Why We Follow the New Testament: Jesus' Gospel

1. It fulfills and explains the message, purpose and focus of the Old Testament. Jesus said those writers were writing about Him (Luke 4:44), and that He came to fulfill all that had been written. Do not think that I came to abolish the Law of the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. (Matthew 5:17)

2. It opens to us, through Jesus, the fullness of God's love and grace. In Jesus, He provides us His answers to sin and His guide to the peace that surpasses all understanding. (Philippians 4:7)

3. It teaches us how to be forgiven by the blood of Jesus Christ. Don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. (Romans 6:3-5).

4. It instructs us how to live life to its fullest by accepting God's moral and spiritual truths as our own. (see the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 5 - 7).

5. It gives us His complete teaching about salvation and honoring God in daily living. ...His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. (2 Peter 1:2-3).
